	Can you use the Internet normally? I mean, do you have name
servers and all that configured? Try ping mail.demon.co.uk or telnetting
to it as described before. Or just use the IP address as suggested.
However depending on the ISP, that might change. It is assumed that the
non numeric address will not change as often :)
