the "recovery" jumper onboard most mobo's is for this purpose - it should
allow an otherwise unbootable system to be started from the floppy to allow
an emergency flash. I think it remaps the bootblock to a backup copy in the
bios chip. If you don't have a recovery jumper (may be called something
else) check the mobo & bios mfrs. for instructions on restoring a
corrupted bootblock. Sometimes this is possible, sometimes not.
