It is not open source, of course, but just for the record (or for other
readers) the 1.1.2 Java SDK Standard Edition for Linux is available from
the javasoft website. Interesting that this one does not have JIT enabled
(by default) when the preceding release candidate did, so your quest for
speed might discover why the default has been changed.
Otherwise, apart from tinkering with font.properties, I have so far found
this to be a pretty good JVM and SDK.
Of course, exactly what this says about the relationship between Sun
Microsystems and the boys at Blackdown is moot.
I've not looked at kaffe for a while; is this sufficient for your needs?
