General rule of thumb - if it comes with drivers for Dos/Win 3.x it'll work
with just about anything. If you want gereal compatability just make sure
it has PCL emulation, pref. PCL 3 or above.
I have Xerox XJ6C, cost 40 quid from Makro, virtually unheard of. However
, it does PCL3 so Linux uses it as a DJ500c. OK, it's not the full 1200 dpi
that thw Windows driver gives but at least it'll print full colour at
reasonable speed :)
