Got it!!
You're a star Paul, I put links in /bin to point to the files in /sbin as
you said and it's cracked it!
I'd previously looked at the FAQ but somehow missed this. I didn't compile
taper from source as I installed it from the SuSE 6.3 CD set. I hadn't
realized that cron didn't have /sbin in it's search path although I
should've realized this when I had to change the crontab entry to
/sbin/taper etc from just taper etc. Weird that cron doesn't have /sbin in
its' path.
Thanks very much, I can now see the day when a Windoze box is totally
replaced by a linux box on our network approaching very soon. :)
