YaST offers 'adjustments to installation', whereby you can choose the
packages available on your system. If you go into the Pay section, select
'StarOffice', and YaST will install it for you. You need to have your SuSE
disk in the machine before you start YaST, too.

Usually, if you're using XF86Setup to configure X-Windows, it make your PC
boot to graphical mode automatically. However, you can do this by hand - the
file /etc/inittab contains the 'default run level'. At the moment, this will
be set to '2' (the first number on the line), I think for a graphical boot
it should be three on SuSE (it varies from distribution to distribution).
It's also worth bearing out this point again - bash, the command line, is
*not* equivilent to DOS, and X-Windows doesn't run 'on top of it' in the
same manner as Win9X - although you may be using them currently in the same
manner, they work very differently - and as an example, while turning off a
PC at the DOS prompt usually does no harm, turning off a Linux PC at the
bash prompt quite probably does do harm. Also, it's worth remembering that
the command line *isn't* Linux - the user never gets to see Linux, and the
command line, X-Windows, telnet, etc. are all facets through which you may
use the computer.
Cheers,
Alex.
