If you can, try and get the sector numbers of all the places it's failing.
By guess would be that they would be either very low or very high - i.e., at
one side of the disk or the other. I reckon it's probably alignment or
something. Possibly a knackered CD transport. Not worth replacing, I'm
afraid. Go out and get yourself that lovely new DVD drive you've been
promising yourself :S
