The answer is, it doesn't - it's probably waiting on DNS? So, if you left it
for about five minutes you'd get something. Probably means that DNS isn't
set up correctly - one symptom of incorrect DNS settings is that you don't
get immediate answers (that should never happen, they should all be pretty
smartish). Same with netstat -r[n], and all the other stuff with -n
options..
Generally, doing an 'nslookup [site]', or somesuch, should give you an
answer quickly. If it takes ages, summut's up.
