Might be worth pointing out that, unless you pop an app on every machine
you want to monitor, your ability to do this is potentially hindered by
the network equipment - especially in these days of v-lans. However, I
have heard good things about ethereal.
The other way is to install an managed router and use snmp / mrtg, or
something similar, to generate port stats. You don't (necessarily) get
all the information you're after, but you get bandwidth stats which is
the main thing?
