SmoothWall original design is to be a dial-up firewall/packet 
filter/router, which it has achieved quite well looking at reviews etc. 
So it was only recently that work begun on dual ethernet 
configurations. Since I was specifically looking for an all Ethernet 
solution (because of the cable modem) I ruled out SmoothWall.

Other alternative I didi consider though was floppyfw and LRP, but I 
got enticed more by the 'marketing-type' blurb on the Freesco 
homepage than either floppyfw or LRP...

Maybe someday I'll have to do an objective review of other routers...
