[Sheflug] serial port?

hi all

i've given up on getting the internet keys on the keyboard to work.....
i've ran into a more pressing problem :-(

i'm trying to set up a machine to use the serial port for terminal emulation
(yes... another one.... you'd think i'd have covered all the pit falls by
now!)

i've got the modem running ok (internal isa /dev/ttyS1)
problem is with the serial port /dev/ttyS2 - irq 4, io 0x03e8

i've tried setting it up with 'setserial' but i can't get any comms through
the port.
i was so desparate that i installed windows to check the hardware...... it
works fine! :-( (appears as com2 with above irq and port)

it's listed in /etc/isapnp.gone so i guessed it didn't need any special
attension? does it?
the setserial command i used was

setserial /dev/ttyS2 port 0x03e8 irq 4 autoconfig

anyone got any advice?
