[Sheflug] SuSE 7.0 liveeval
Hi everybody
I picked up a SuSE 7.0 LiveEval CD from the Blackwells book store and am
trying to use it to upgrade my SuSE 6.3... And failing. My computer is too
old - can't boot from CD. No info as for how to proceede in this
situation on the CD package nor on the CD itself. Maximum success I was
able to achieve - is to boot with a boot disk with the kernel from the CD
/boot directory and "ro root=/dev/hdc S" options (no other runlevel
worked), login as root, mount a floppy as a /tmp / /var/log directory
(depending on whether trying to run yast or yast2) and start yast / yast2.
This is it. Can't get either of them to do anything with my existing
installation and the CD - update or whatever. The kernel from the CD's
/disks directory behaves even worse - hangs on "hardware detection... PnP
add card." Anybody any ideas?
Thanks
Guennadi
