[Sheflug] multiple ppp connections
hi all,
hope you all had a happy new year :-)
well i got my christmas presy - an agenda vr3d....
works a treat except for an irritating issue with pppd.
to connect, i have to run
/usr/sbin/pppd /dev/ttyS0 10.1.1.2:10.1.1.3 noauth nodetach debug
which is fine... but i also have to modify /etc/options to prevent pppd from
running in demand (which is how i operate my internet connection) mode and
from trying to dial-up the vr3 which hangs off the serial port.
my question is......
1) how can i start pppd without editing the /etc/options file
2) how can i run the command as a normal user - pppd complains about not
being able to change the device when normal users issue the pppd command (i
have added myself to the pppuser and tty groups already)
3) can i run multiple instances of pppd and if i do, how does the application
(ie telnet) know which route to take to the device (connected to the serial
port)
config........
