Hello Alex, Chris, Pieter and Stephen.

Thank you all for the help you have given me with my packet programs. Taking
your advice, I have had quite a lot of success.

Ax25spyd ran in root and solved the two monitoring program problems. So I
have added a line to my ax25 start-up file which runs ax25spyd during
boot-up. I can now monitor as a user with no problem. I don't even need to SU
into root to start either monitoring program.

The second packet program is looking better. I can receive as a user, but not
transmit. Obviously settings which need checking.  

The third packet program, TNT, (the subject of my initial posting),  is still
not working. I am just getting the opening text page and the process
locking error. So this needs more investigating.
