Re: [Sheflug] Promise ATA-100 controller - finally sorted

 Finally! It's all running smooth!

Thanks very much Alex for all your help. Looks like I do have an
increase in speed (even tho my drives are only UDMA/66) mobo controller
gives 10-14Mb:

[root@flux /root]# hdparm -Tt /dev/hde

/dev/hde:
 Timing buffer-cache reads: 128 MB in 1.20 seconds =106.67 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 2.84 seconds = 22.54 MB/sec
[root@flux /root]# hdparm -Tt /dev/hdg

/dev/hdg:
 Timing buffer-cache reads: 128 MB in 1.21 seconds =105.79 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 2.63 seconds = 24.33 MB/sec

I've got around 10Mb/s increase - these hdparms were run at init5, and I
didn't bother averaging them out 22-25Mb is what I've been getting other
times too, tho.

 Cheers.

Baz.
